6s, iOS 9.x
The elegant simplicity of this title reminds me of FTL: Faster Than Light. I would even go so far as to say that this is an RPG analogue (not copy) of FTL. Simply put: It strikes every sonic and aesthetic chord. That said, Wayward Souls is extremely difficult, and many users (myself included) may feel that the actual story is just as important as both gameplay and mechanics. I really like this title a lot, but grinding through the same *random* dungeons with the same characters in an effort to progress is tiresome. At this rate, it doesnt appear that I will ever have the satisfaction of making it through each characters story despite having poured many hours into Wayward Souls. Im happy for those who are perfectly satisfied with the current balancing/difficulty, but the not-so-skilled crowd is having a completely different experience. Of course, Ill keep trying—just not for as long or as often. Its worth noting that there have been a few changes that have helped some and that the dev is considering other means of unlocking additional characters/content in future updates.
09/04/2014: Latest update is phenomenal & theres more to come! These devs ARE the fans. They have spent insane amounts of time working to enhance and perfect this title and discussing the finer points of that process in the most interactive and meaningful ways. Just check the TouchArcade forum and their Facebook page (and top score on Lucky Frames Nightmare Cooperative leaderboards). Ive taken my review up from four to five stars for the stated reasons.
10/29/2015: Thanks for the continued support, devs! This title will always have a place on my device.
01/13/2016: Yet another amazing update and even more is on the way. One of the best devs on the platform, hands down.
